I began learning and writing HTML in the later part of "05" after I'd taken a small class with one of our Homeschool group's moms. She was very fluent in quite a few forms of coding and had worked for the military designing sites for them. She encouraged me to continue after the class was over, which I did by leaps and bounds. I was soon coding guild pages for people on Neopets. I built up a strong portfolio on there and soon moved on to code my own guild's site, which was later moved to freewebs domain.
After awhile, I also began to tutor other people who wished to get into the same field. I mostly did face to face sessions at the time, but I have been debating on opening it up to Skype sessions as well for longer distance students. In mid 2011 I decided to enroll in OCC to obtain my Web Developer's Certificate. I took lots of classes including:
- XHTML & CSS
- HTML 5 & CSS 3
- JavaScript
- Mathematics
- Psychology
- Medical First Responder (I was awarded both CPR & the First Responder Licence)
Currently, I'm trying to get my freelance business, Dyslexic Pigeon off the ground.
So far, I have completed a few commissions since the end of my classes, as well as some of my personal projects.
